We must find common ground

If we are to have any hope for building the best Urbandale schools, we must change how we talk to each other. We can’t be shy about addressing the needs of Urbandale kids, families, and staff, but we need to use language we would be comfortable using at our kid’s soccer games, and band concerts, or in the driveway with our neighbor. We may disagree passionately at times, but we are ONE Urbandale. We need to build consensus on the many issues we can agree on. We can debate our positions at board meetings and on social media without questioning each other's motivations or integrity. This was the most unexpected question from the candidate forum.
